An Exciting Day!

March 28th, 1999: What a day! I turned eight weeks old on Thursday, and today something very special happened. My new family, MommaGayle, DaddyJoe and my two Kids, Jess and Devon, came to take me home. I was out playing with my foster brother when they arrived, and didn't have any idea of the big step I was about to take. Mavvy and Pree
(Meeting my new kitty, Pree)

I jumped and played and showed off for our vistors for a while, as MommaGayle and my breeder talked and looked at a bunch of papers. These included a pedigree, lots of good stuff about how to take care of me, and an agreement promising that Gayle and her family would be good bunny owners. And here is a simple version of my pedigree! You can see the names and colors of a bunch of my relatives!

I'm bigger than I was the last time they saw me, and MommaGayle says my markings have filled in some and my coat is whiter. My breeder talked about the proper shape of a Dwarf Rabbit and all my good points, as well as places that still need to fill in a little bit to be just right. MommaGayle says I'm "just right" the way I am and she loves me bunches!

Then they put me into a carrier to take me home. Wow, how exciting--my first car ride! I wasn't worried at all. I nibbled on my hay and played with my pine cones and stretched out and relaxed for the whole ride. After we got home, though, I did get a little nervous. There are dogs and cats here, and it took me a little while to relax.

After a while, I explored my cage. It's a nice big one, with a board to sleep on so the wires of the bottom of the cage don't bother my feet, a big oatmeal box to roll and play in (and hide in if I feel nervous), nice fresh food and hay and water, and my good old pine cone to play with. My new family brought home some of my old food and treats so my tummy won't be upset from a sudden change to new food.

I'm so happy to be loved and cared for by my own new family.
