Creature Thoughts, April 2012
…animals never fail to give you that tail wag, that sparkly smile, that rub of the head or purr. There is an enthusiasm in their demeanor when our pets receive a treat or a kindness that tells us, without doubt, that they are thankful. They show us every day, in so many ways, that by just being in their lives, we make a difference to them. Continue reading
Creature Thoughts, March 2012
Lost animals. The situation generates a very unique, and often devastating, series of emotions. Both the pet and the owner are going through a form of grief that is even more intense than normal because of that “factor of the unknown”. The bereaved human has no idea if their pet is still alive, if he is suffering, if he is injured, trapped, has been killed by a car or predators…. Any person who has ever been missing a pet will tell you that the “not knowing” is the worst part of the experience. Continue reading
Creature Thoughts, January 2012
A conversation with an animal is rarely like a conversation with a human, at least not for me. I know that many animal communicators, when relaying the exchange with the pet, make it sound like they are simply talking back and forth. This hasn’t been my experience, personally.

Creature Thoughts, November 2011
Although Nature is never cruel for the sake of being cruel, like some humans can be, survival can often be a tricky task for our wild friends.
Yet, despite the fact that we can sometimes be taken aback by such things, if we keep our eyes open, we’ll also witness some very clever adaptations. Just as humans are resourceful creatures who can find interesting ways to survive, our animal neighbors are pretty ingenious as well. Continue reading
Creature Thoughts, October 2011
Black cats. There are so many stories around about how black cats vanish during the Halloween season. Some of those stories are myth and anecdote, of course, but there is a definite thread of real caution that runs through them. A strong enough thread, in fact, that some shelters will put a hold on black cat adoptions during the month of October. While it’s growing more rare that shelters and rescue groups do this, there are real reasons to be cautions around the Halloween season, regardless of what color your pet may be. Continue reading
The Leg And I Are Home
The visit with Dr Resnick went well. He’s taking a conservative approach, and is starting me back on prednisone, at 30-mg/day to begin. He’ll be monitoring things carefully, and I’ll be in touch with my PCP tomorrow for things like … Continue reading
