Black cats. There are so many stories around about how black cats vanish during the Halloween season. Some of those stories are myth and anecdote, of course, but there is a definite thread of real caution that runs through them. A strong enough thread, in fact, that some shelters will put a hold on black cat adoptions during the month of October.
