In a previous blog post, I mentioned that one of my key inspirations for writing the Junior Handlers Mystery Series were the kids on my JrShow-L list. I’ve always had pets in our household, and my children were raised to love and respect animals. Though neither was a Junior Handler, they both have a special bond with our pets. My daughter grew to be a “cat person”, my son loves to help with all the animals in our family (or perhaps I should say menagerie, since I have been doing songbird rescue). I’ve always felt that having animals around is great for children, and helps to develop their sense of responsibility, as well as their innate respect for all living things.
The American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychology apparently agrees.
I was never a Junior Handler. So, why am I so enthusiastic about the sport that I’d write an entire series of mystery stories surrounding it?
Amazon informed me this morning that my Author Page is online and accessible.

My mid-grade novel, the first book in the Junior Handlers Mystery Series, is now available as an e-book! Very soon, readers will also be able to purchase paperback copies as well, through FehrmanBooks.com and Amazon.com.
For now, visit the ebook download page for The Corpse That Wasn’t There:
There isn’t much in this world more exciting to a writer than seeing that first novel in print. Well, maybe giving birth to a new child, or a long-awaited litter of puppies or kittens or a foal, or winning the lottery….
Nah, not even winning the lottery would be more exciting.
I received word today that, after the death of my dear friend Judith Simpson, who was also senior partner of Lost Bard Books, the surviving partners have decided to dissolve the company. All rights of contracted work are being reverted to the authors and artists. My thoughts and thanks are with them, I know this has been a difficult time for all of Judy’s friends.
The Corpse That Wasn’t There is the first installment of The Junior Handler’s Mystery Series, which will be published by Lost Bard Books. The book is done, and the editors are putting it through the final spell-check and tweak before assembling all the parts and putting the finished product online. Rest assured that I’ll be posting here as soon as it’s available for purchasing!
