I was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on July 21, 2002, and came to live with my new family in New York on the 29th of September, when I was ten weeks old.
I come from a lovely breeding of two very fine Salukis, united by Amy Charles of Amala Salukis. We were Amala’s first litter of puppies, called the “Z litter” in honor of my Mom, Zahrah. Her full name is Ch Shahanshah Invisible Touch, CGC JC, and she was selected two years in a row to receive an Award of Merit at the Saluki National Specialty. My father is Boss, also known as Ch Shalom’s Burst of Speed, LCM. He is a handsome golden Saluki who lives up to his name, as he is a fine coursing dog. Mom’s color is a richly sabled mahogany red. We puppies came out in various shades of sabled red and fawns, as well as tricolor (black, tan and white).
My birthday: 7/21/2002
I have two brothers and six sisters! I, like both of my brothers and one of my sisters, am a tricolor Saluki. All the rest of my sisters are sabled like Mom.
The breeding that produced us is a special one, bringing together fine lure and open field coursing, as well as successful show, lines from both east and west. My new momma-Gayle wishes to let our breeder, as well as my dad Boss’s and my mom Zahrah’s breeders know how thankful she is that the universe brought us all together.
See lots of puppy pictures, read all about us, and meet my Mom and my Uncle Dusty at the Amala Salukis website: http://zahrahrah.tripod.com/amalasalukis/index.html
I have a marking on my chest that a friend of Amy’s called a “rising phoenix”. At first mommy-Gayle thought it was a hummingbird, but she decided she likes rising phoenix better. What does it look like to you? Besides really cute, I mean.
A Long Ride Home
My mom and my human sister Jess drove all the way to Michigan to get me. My brother Nick and I rode home with them, for fourteen hours, and we were such good pups. Just little babies, we walked on lead at the rest stops, ate our lunch and supper during driving breaks, and neither of us made any messes in our big travel crate. The next day Nick went home with his new mom, Zipora, and since then I’ve been the baby of the family. My mom calls me “His Royal Kainess”. Yep, that’s me, Prince of the Universe!
Genius Puppy
Me and Mom are clicker training. That is when I do cute and really smart and cool stuff and get her to click this little clicky box thing and give me a cookie. She’s pretty smart and is catching on quick. So far I have taught her to click when I sit, lie down, come when called (um, unless I don’t feel like it), talk to her, and she’s learning to click when I ring a bell that hangs on the back doorknob. It’s fun! Mom says you can learn about clicker training here:

All Growed Up
There are more recent pictures of me above. You can also see that I’ve grown into a tall, strong, and extremely handsome Saluki. My mom calls me her heart, and we sure are a couple of the very best pals! Please visit my breeder’s website, above, and you will see that my litter mates have grown into exquisite Salukis, too!
