Van Kay's Summer Fashion of Moonlyte May 29th 1990 - April 18th 2003 Vogue and Fen came together, loved together, made babies together, and now they are together again. I write this painful page "the morning after". On "Good Friday" of 2003, our darling sparrow kitty lost her three year long battle with breast cancer. At just shy of ten o'clock in the evening, with her mommy beside her stroking and talking to her, Vogue leaped through the veil and ran to the side of her beloved. |
| We called her "sparrow", because she chirped when she talked to us, a delightful, musical sound that always said "I love you". Never was born a sweeter cat, and she spread her sweetness willingly. Vogue was the only of the four to give head-butts when asked, and always was happy to hold pleasant and vocal conversation with all who wished. She adored her kids, Devon and Jess, and even grew to love "those silly dogs". We acquired Vogue when we went to bring Fen home and the owner, who was attempting to thin her cat population so that she could provide better care for those who stayed with her, asked if we'd like to take Vogue, too. Her loss was our heart-blessed gain. Ten years of joy made Vogue the most valuable free cat who ever lived. | ![]() May 2002, snuggled in Daddy's chair |

Motherhood Once Vogue's babies were with us, she was an incredibly wonderful mother. Unfortunately she had a very hard time getting them here. While we were breeding, she was the only mommy cat to face the pain of grieving over lost kittens, and after she ran into trouble in her second delivery and required a C-section, we had her spayed. However, she brought into the world four beautiful, healthy babies who gave their families a lifetime of love and snuggles. Her kittens shared the marvelous personalities of Vogue and their daddy Fen, as well as their elegant beauty. |

Family Vogue, for most of the years she lived with us, only "buddied" with Fen. Once he left the physical plane, she really never connected with the other cats, until the last year of her life. It was as if Vogue knew she would be saying goodbye soon, and was determined to befriend Pree and Sachet, her almost life-long housemates. Here she is with Pree (not the most wonderful photo, but a treasure nonetheless), and in the last couple of months of her life, she moved into "Sachet's bathroom" to be close to Sachet. In the end all three were friends, and all of the cats and dogs gave Vogue sniffs and kisses to say goodbye after she left her body. |

Sweet Sparrow Vogue always had a smile and a purr for everyone, and was a highly skilled lap magnet. Guests to our home would inevitably find themselves with a lilac-tortie point thigh massager as soon as they took a seat. She was a wonderful welcome committee, and would offer chirps, purrs and head-butts to all who came in the door. |
